 A Call to Sound Doctrine~

About Dr. Schmidt….

Dr. Richard R. Schmidt, B.S., M.A., D.Min., and PhD in Advanced

Eschatology, has been an avid student of the Word of God for over 43 years.  Dr. and

Mrs. Schmidt  have been married 40 years and have three children; two married

daughters, a 23-year old son & 8 grandchildren.

Rich brings with him an extremely unique and diverse background. After

giving his life to Christ during a Chicago revival meeting, he immediately immersed

himself into evangelism and the study of Scripture, graduating with both a B.S. and M.A.

in Pastoral Theology/Christian Education. Early in his ministry, Rich traveled with Evangelist Joe Boyd and preached in various churches and Chicago’s Pacific Garden Mission. Upon college graduation and his ordination, Rich and his wife, Valori, moved to Milwaukee, WI to church plant.

After the church plant was successfully merged with another, Rich joined the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office as his "tent making" job while simultaneously serving as an Assistant Pastor. During the next 18 years, he regularly preached, taught Bible classes, and led the Men’s Ministry. Concurrently, Rich was rising to the top of the MCSO, where he served directly under former Milwaukee Sheriff David A. Clarke, Jr. as his Senior Commander Undersheriff. During this time, he received extensive training in Leadership and Administration at the FBI Academy, Harvard University, Northwestern University, and more.

On September 1, 2017, upon the abrupt retirement of Sheriff Clarke, by state statute, Rich became the Acting Sheriff of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Eighteen men and women applied for the Interim Sheriff position and after an intense vetting process, then Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, pleased with Rich's very positive and pro-active agency performance, allowed him to continue serving as the Milwaukee County Sheriff.  Following the path that had been laid before him, Rich entered a very hard fought campaign to retain that position. When the Lord confirmed that his nearly 33-year assignment at the Milwaukee County Sheriff's office had concluded, Rich retired January 7, 2019, leaving the agency with great community leader relationships, nearly a $1,000,000 budget surplus, positively transformed agency issues, and having implemented 18 new initiatives during his 16-month tenure as Sheriff.

It was during his combined government and ministry period that Rich met Dr. Jimmy DeYoung, Dr. Bob Shelton, and traveled with Dr. Sam Horn on multiple study trips to the Middle East.  From those encounters, a passion for Israel and its Biblical history and prophetic significance emerged. After completing a prophetically based dissertation and earned doctorate in 2014,

Prophecy Focus Ministries was born. Throughout his law enforcement career, Rich had  maintained a robust weekend preaching/teaching schedule; when it was clear that his "tent- making" job was complete, Rich implemented his original plan of full-time preaching and teaching God's biblical Prophetic Word.

Rich combines an evangelistic flavor with scripturally packed, exciting messages

that are visualized with detailed PowerPoint presentations. Dr. Schmidt is able to

marry that with his up-to-date knowledge of current events and experience that has

been gained during his thirty-three years in a large government agency.

In 2017-2020, Rich was a volunteer church representative with the Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry. He co-led study trips to Israel and preached at multiple FOI local and national Prophecy Conferences, along with co-authoring a book with FOI.  He continues to love the Jewish people.

In 2020, the Lord used the season of Coronavirus "cancellations" and a continued vacant pulpit fill at Union Grove Baptist Church to reveal a new "appointment"; the call to become the Senior Pastor at UGBC!   Additionally,  Rich began a weekly televised Prophecy Focus program on WVCY, TV 30.  Dr. & Mrs. Schmidt are thrilled to be able to serve in these local ministries.
